Homicides in Latin America and the Caribbean

Lethal violence produces thousands of victims each year and dramatically compromises the development of the countries of Latin America. Reversing this situation is a huge challenge, although achievable through the application of focused programs, adapted to the context and based on rigorous evidence. Homicidios Latam is a virtual platform that systematizes contributions from the public power and civil society with the aim of promoting the quality of information and the prevention of homicides in the region.

WHO publishes “Violence Info”

The Violence Prevention Information System (Violence Info) collates published scientific information on the main types of interpersonal violence. This includes information on prevalence, consequences, risk factors, and prevention and response strategies.

Reduction of homicides and armed violence: a look at Latin America

The number 116 of the CIDOB Journal is about lethal violence in Latin America. The topics covered by the articles include, among others, the causes of lethal violence, the description and evaluation of national and local homicide prevention programs, as well as the role of international institutions in this field.

The Homicide Knowledge Platform is a specialized virtual space dedicated to provide detailed and systematized information on campaigns, projects and programs implemented by Member States of the Organization of American States (OAS), as well as non-state actors, both at national and sub-national levels.
